Praatbox allows you to videocall someone you can't have physical contact with.
How do you use the Praatbox?
- Give your Praatbox a name. Make up a name and type it in the first field.
For an existing Praatbox, fill in the name you got from your contact. - Give your Praatbox a location. Type your location into the second field.
For an existing Praatbox, fill in the location you got from your contact. - Either choose a random word, or keep the automatically generated one.
For an existing Praatbox, choose the word you got from your contact. - If you have executed the steps above, click the "Start Praatbox" button
- The Praatbox is starting!
(Afterwards, you can secure it with a password. See bottom-right corner) - You can now share this praatbox in a lot of different ways, the only thing you need to do is copy the link

- When creating the chat room, do not use words that other people are not allowed to see.
- If you want a a confidential conversation, limit the number of participants to a maximum of two: you and one other person, so no group conversation with three or more.
- Options:
- Preferably also use a password (don't forget to press enter and preferably also use a special character in the password: example: $daygrannynice).
- To reinforce your own privacy you can also blur your background, you can do that by clicking on the options (the three dots at the bottom right of your screen): choose 'Blur my background '.
- Attention: other participants can record a conversation (REC symbol appears) or even stream it live to YouTube (LIVE symbol appears). If you don't want this, close the chat for you (red phone handset in the middle of the screen)
